UMW Journal notes by two of the recovery inspectors. Even they couldn't agree on some things. Joe Hatfield and Nath Centers had the only chalk and did what little marking that was done and there was no writing on rails nor written prayers simply because hardly anyone could read and write even if they had materials to do so. try writing in dust sometime and see how legible it is even after a few moments then think about what it would look like after a couple of years.
